Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

Tea-Leaves: Is McCain Going to Pick Portman?

Remember all the speculation that McCain will pick his VP the day after Obama gives his acceptance speech?

Well, the day after his acceptance speech, McCain will be in Dayton, Ohio, holding what has to be the biggest rally he’s ever had:

John McCain will hold a 10,000-strong rally in Ohio the day after Barack Obama accepts his party’s nomination in Denver.

On Friday, Aug. 29 McCain will hold a rally in Dayton, according to the Hamilton Co. Republican Party chairman’s blog and confirmed by a GOP source. The source said McCain will hold the event at Nutter Center and that the party expects 10,000 or more attendees.

10,000? How does McCain draw 10,000 people to a rally in Dayton on a Friday? By promising a VP announcement perhaps? Local boy Rob Portman?

  4. According to the article I read in the Politico, there’s supposed to be a subsequent rally in PA, and that would point to it being John Kasich. As you may know Kasich served 9 consecutive terms as the House Rep. for Ohio’s 12th Congressional District. Kasich is a native of PA, as well. If I was reading the tea leaves, I would say they Kasich is the one.
