Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

Good Lord

Obama in Germany

Obama is about to give his speech. The crowd is HUGE. Andrea Mitchell says it’s at about 100k, but I’d say it’s at least four times that much (Update: Looks like the unofficial number is at 215k). I have no idea how this is going to eventually play, and whether there will be a backlash. But this is an impressive crowd indeed.

MSNBC has a live feed.

The Page has the transcript of the speech.

  1. As a policy, I generally don’t trust anything Andrea Mitchell says.

  3. Home run so far – not sure what all the “risk” was – he knows what he’s doing.

  4. It’s a great speech. It will be interesting to see how the McCain camp and the traditional media spins it.

  5. What the hell is up with Marc Ambinder? A guy who supposedly gives objective analysis – and the first thing he writes after this speech is to give a GOP hit-ad idea because he used similar language in one phrase to a phrase he used in MN.

Really, his scoops are good, but his analysis is fracked.

  6. Ambinder has a post up criticizing some of what the guest poster wrote.

  7. I saw that – he had to, he got an influx of email that forced him to.

Still, he’s the editor of the blog and chose to allow the guest-poster to post it.

It’s a larger problem though – I suspect he’s so afraid of being seen as liberal (even though he works for the Atlantic) that his analysis bends over backwards to give McCain the benefit of the doubt.

Again – his scoops are good. His analysis, not so much.
