Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

Is Canada not another country? Or Colombia?

John McCain, today:

“I would rather speak at a rally or a political gathering any place outside of the country after I am president of the United States,” McCain told O’Donnell. “But that’s a judgment that Sen. Obama and the American people will make.”

John McCain, Last month

Republican presidential candidate John McCain gave this speech to the Economic Club of Toronto in Ottawa, Canada on June 20, 2008.

“Thank you all very much. I appreciate the warm welcome to Ottawa, and the hospitality of the Economic Club of Toronto. The reputation of the Economic Club as a place for serious discussion of policy is well known in America, and I am honored by your invitation. There aren’t any electoral votes to be won up here in the middle of a presidential election. But there are many shared interests that require our attention today, and many Canadians here I am proud to call friends.

A campaign speech, on foreign soil. It may not have been in front of an audience of 200,000, but it was a campaign speech nonetheless.

There was also that trip to Colombia he made earlier this month!:

Republican presidential hopeful John McCain has used a visit to Colombia to urge the US Congress to pass a free trade deal between the two nations…

Speaking later in the coastal city of Cartagena, Mr McCain continued to voice his pro-free trade views.

“The free trade is an important issue, not only for Colombia but I believe for the economy of the world and, as you know, for the United States economy.”

So, yeah. This attack is not going anywhere.

  1. Somehow I don’t think the MSN is going to call him out on this.

  2. If they have a chance to. If it’d been a CBS interview, this clip would never see the light of day.

  3. Busted – once again the blogosphere is the only place holding him accountable.
