Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

I Just Called The Obama Campaign and So Should You

Inspired by blogger jenontheshore, whose signature at DailyKos is “Call 1-866-675-2008 (press 6) and demand that Obama go on offense!,” I decided, “What the hell?” and gave them a call.

A lady answered, I felt very awkward, she was incredibly nice and said, “What’s on your mind?”

I said, “My friends and I are tearing our hair out that the campaign isn’t on offense.  We’re waiting for it.”  She immediately said, “I know, we’re getting a lot of calls like this, you want us to hit back.”  “No, not hit back, launch new attacks.”  She responded, “I hear you, it’s coming soon, it will happen.”  I said, “Okay, but there’s no good time to wait, you should go after him now.”  She said, “Believe me, I know, I want them to also.”  I said, “Okay, but do THEY know.”  She said, “They do, we pass along all information.”

The call made me feel good, but I’m still skeptical until I see the proof. The more calls they get, the better. What should you do?  It may seem weird, but they were very receptive.  Follow Jen’s advice:

  1. If you are making calls, you should make calls to voters in swing states. Stop trying to micromanage the Obama campaign. You will be unsuccessful and only drive yourself further crazy. Focus on something you can control.

  3. I called as well, told them they can’t let McCain have the airwaves, they have to slam him with new ads on a daily basis, and not just energy, slam him on every issue, reveal his flip flops, use that huge warchest to drive McCain into the ground

  4. Why aren’t we hearing about how McCain left his crippled wife for a younger rich Cindy? They are exploring Obama’s backfround.

  5. I urge Mr. Obama to start hitting McCain with some hard ads! not negative, but the gaffs and lack of substance. Handcuff McCain with Bush on a daily basis, who needs another eight years of Bush?…..And also why can’t Sen. Obama see that the “News Media” playing this racist game with him? McCain gaffs and misspeaks last for only a second and that’s if they report them.

  6. I think that the Obama campaign tends to coast after they enjoy success. When Barack started tying McCain to Bush it gained some traction but they have not consistently hit that connection – at least I do not hear it as much. I agree with Jerry 100% – Handcuff McCain to Bush and the future VP to Dick Chenney

  7. I am so frustrated at the Obama Camp for this “high road campaign” bulls—! Taking the high road got Gore a smack down and Kerry pushed aside. Now look at the country. Why is the Obama camp so scared to attack McCains character? Are they scared of retaliation? They could put together a tactful commercial of McCains gaffe’s that would let everyone know how near senility Mr. McCain is and give Obama a landslide victory in the fall. Tying him to Bush is good but it’s not enough. Remember, a lot of people voted for Bush and deep down inside they still like him. McCain is throwing haymaker punches with his commercials and Obama is shooting spitwads back with his. Please punch back. Maybe he is not as tough as Michelle O. said he was. This election is too important to fight so weakly.

  8. While the polar ice cap is melting in her back yard Palin doesn’t even mention global warming. The only green in the Republican party is the hue of their money.

  9. my god people, (especially to Joe) you realize that the oil companies gave over $90 to the Dems (2003-2007, SourceWatch.org) & now expect that they are ‘green’? LOL The only green party in the U.S. is the Official Green Party. Everyone else is in Big Energy’s back pocket.
