Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

Get Thee To Alaska

Alaska

This poll should have Obama booking a flight to Alaska as soon as is practical:

Obama 45
McCain 40

This survey was fielded August 6th-7th, 2008 by Hays Research Group. 400 completed respondents were interviewed The margin of error for the data collected is +/- 4.9 % for a 400 response survey for the data analyzed in its entirety with a 95% confidence level; meaning that we can be 95% sure that if every resident of the State (pop. 670,000) with working telephone numbers who have at least one member who has voted in at least two of the last four local or state elections was actually surveyed, the results would vary by no more than 4.9% in either direction.

This is a shocking result frankly, and with news of prominent Alaska Republicans endorsing Obama, this is a state, with a little effort, that is ripe for the picking.

  1. A little pit-stop on the way back from Hawaii should do it. You have to imagine a candidate showing Alaska some attention would be worth a few points.

On the downside, Cokie Roberts might accuse him of traveling to an exotic location.

  2. This is bad news for Obama. Everyone knows the population of Alaska consists of mostly rural men. So clearly this underscores his problem with suburban women.

  3. Everything I know about Alaska, I learned in movies, so this is telling me that Obama is leading abongst burly male oil workers, ice truckers, Inuits, and vampires.

  4. He should just SHOW UP… for real…Alaska bound….

And his opening speech should be:

I am proud to be at the second foreign state of the union, ALASKA.

  5. Those damn Alaskans… they just do whatever they want, don’t they!

Nasty independent sort of folks, neither party can count on them.

They like to think and view everything from the lower 48 wuith suspicion. BTW why isn’t it the lower 49?
