Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

Carter: McCain Milking POW Status

NOTE: I know there is another diary on this subject, but I felt it needed more analysis than that one provided (and with less offensive words).

Jimmy Carter went there, now it’s up for other Dems and surrogates to take one for the team and go there too:

Former president Jimmy Carter called Republican presidential candidate John McCain a “distinguished Naval officer,” but said the Arizona senator has been “milking every possible drop of advantage” from his time served as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

Dems, if you’re going to go off-message and be undisciplined, THAT’S the way to do it (are you paying attention Rendell/Bredesen?). We need people to take one for the team, particularly before next week’s POW-fest, I mean Republican Convention. And wait, there’s more:

But he focused heavily on McCain, explaining how he was bewildered to see him during a conversation earlier this month with pastor and author Rick Warren at the Saddlebrook Church in Lake Forest, Calif. Carter said that whether the question was about religion, domestic or foreign affairs, every answer came back to his five-and-a-half years as a POW.

“John McCain was able to weave in his experience in a Vietnam prison camp, no matter what the question was,” said Carter, a 7-year Naval officer who served aboard submarines. “It’s much better than talking about how he’s changed his total character between being a senator, a kind of a maverick at the time, and his acquiescence in the last few months with every kind of lobbyist pressure that the right wing Republicans have presented to him.”

Snap! Sounds like someone isn’t too happy about being mocked by John McCain earlier this summer. Way to go Jimmy.

And if you thought that wasn’t enough, he takes on Holy Joe too!:

“I would hope that the Democrats could have enough senators elected in November so that we would not any longer need to include Joe Lieberman among the senators,” Carter said. Speaking of this week’s convention, Carter said “He would be the least welcome here of any Democrat I could think of.”

Surrogates, are you listening? It’s time to call out John McCain on his POW status, and it’s time to pre-spin his convention, which we know will be all-POW-all-the-time.

Thank you President Carter!

  2. Jimmy Carter was 18 in 1942. He did not enlist, instead he wrangled his way into the Naval Academy until he graduated in 1946. In 1953, in the middle of the Korean conflict he resigned from the Navy. I do not see how he is qualified to judge John Mccain who placed himself in harms way in service of his country and paid a dear price for it.

  3. Obama,

You are the first candidate the U.S. has had in a long time that has continued to spread false information from the first time you hit the campaign trail.

I find your technique one of the most offensive I have ever experienced. I find your ethics are on the border of being unethical and your manipulation of the facts most disgusting.

It is common knowledge that the media will always press United States citizens to vote for the candidate who offers them the biggest kick-backs, pay-backs, and over-all “favors”. That is you, Obama.

Then look at your over all personas: Your stance, the way you hold your head, your gestures, the clothes you wear, the pronouns and adjectives you use. Everything about you is the personification of an individual, who does NOT, let me repeat DOES NOT, have the United States citizens interests’ at heart. You are an elitist and the persona I just described is living proof — your entire appearance is proof — FACT — of what I say.

Okay – now let’s talk about education. You have a law degree but did not practice law. Why? Readers – look this one up and you will see why. And, the result is not a positive one.

Then there is the community organizer work you undertook in the state of Illinois. That, too, has been overstated and turned into something “positive” that it in fact was NOT. Dear readers – check this one out yourself as there are many Illinois citizens who will tell you the “truth.”

My education – NOBAMA – is equal to or greater than your education. I do have the same ability as you to influence U.S. Citizens: And I certainly am taking the opportunity to exploit you for what you truly are.

You see I am an educator, who works for a famous “Research One” institution, who has the ability to write Journal Articles that all college students will use for research. The true facts about you will come out and in a place that will most definitely do the most good – to influence voters “young voters” on how to spot an individual who does not represent the United States in the capacity as he states he will. Make no mistake, Obama, people will definitely know the subject of the Journal Articles is referencing you and your 2008 Presidential campaign.

See you in “honest” fact-finding print.
