John McCain: Ready to Vet on Day Three

Ewwww

From Andrew Halcro, who was one of the Republicans who ran against Palin in 2006.

The campaign of John McCain has sent a staff of eight people into Alaska to conduct background checks and vetting on Governor Sarah Palin.

Word is they have have eight rooms reserved at a Wasilla hotel.

Absolutely stunning. It is clear they did next to no vetting whatsoever:

The McCain campaign has gone to great lengths to present the selection of Sarah Palin as one made after a careful, meticulous vetting process. But evidence continues to suggest that the Arizona Republican made his VP choice with surprising haste.

On Saturday, a Democrat tasked with opposition research contacted the Huffington Post with this piece of information: as of this weekend, the McCain campaign had not gone through old newspaper articles from the Valley Frontiersman, Palin’s hometown newspaper.

How does he know? The paper’s (massive) archives are not online. And when he went to research past content, he was told he was the first to inquire.

“No one else had requested access before,” said the source. “It’s unbelievable. We were the only people to do that, which means the McCain camp didn’t.”

McCain’s judgment on this pick is so outrageous that it should disqualify him from being within 50 miles of the White House. They should revoke his ability to even tour the place.

  1. The pick was so odd in so many ways. I don’t see how Palin could help JMac govern when their views on the issues are so different.

I’ve viewed JMac as a right leaning moderate (before he made the changes to become ‘presidential nominee’ McCain), but Palin is an out-there fringe far right lunie-tunie, very caricature in people’s minds of the remote, isolated areas that she represents.

JMac with a moderate centrist woman could have been a winning ticket, but the current pairing is just a scary thought to anyone with a half a brain, regardless of which way one leans politically.

  2. This was clearly a play to cut down the margin of support for women voters and rally the base. That’s pretty much it. This has nothing to do with governing. Pure cynicism.

  3. DailyKos an others are carrying pictures of both Mom and Daughter. daughter looks pregnant, mom don’t. Daughter out of school months with mono. Mother who claims she 8 mo pregant takes a 8 hour plane flight, and says she was leaking fluid hours before getting on, and in labor all the way! flight attendance says they saw nothing unusual about Palin in flight, that if she was in labor as she claimed they saw no signs or up set from her. and much, much more to come! This is why the vettings going on! but many in Alaska already suspected the daughter was preg, not the mom.

  4. The most important thing McCain missed about Paley is that she lied about being the mother of the 5th child with the Downs syndrome. The evidence is that her 16 year old daughter is the actual mother and this was a cover up. For proof, see the following link:

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/31/145838/319/386/581332

and also the previous day’s posting to which it refers. The evidence is very compelling. This is being referred to as babygate and will be huge.

  6. the Kountry Klub Kristians are rushing to her defense.
They are saying even if the preg rumor is true it just proves what a dedicated mother she is.

Ob/Gyns are speaking out. This whole thing does not add up.

The doctor is claiming that 20 hours after water broke in TX., after 12 hour flight, then she had to INDUCE labor. HUH?
No doctor would induce a month early, especially high-risk baby. They would do everything possible to stop labor

  7. Once the netroots force this onto the corporate media, which would love to ignore this, but will not be able to, John McCain will be saying he is behind Paley 1,000%.

For those of you who are too young to remember what happened when McGovern picked Eagelton as his original running mate, he said he was behind Eagelton 1,000% before Eagelton was replaced.

  9. Dear Senator McCain;

I hear you’re looking for staff in your new administration.

I realize we haven’t met yet but that should not be a barrier.

While I’m no beauty queen I still think I could play a vital role in protecting and defending the Constitution and people of the United States. I’m sure you will agree.

I could help you deal with the Russians because I have drank vodka, but don’t like it that much so I could be Secretary of State.

I already have a passport so I would be ready on Day One.

…or I could be Secretary of the Treasury because I have a bank account and some credit cards and know the importance of having a balanced budget.

Whatever you want Senator, I can do it…just let me know. Like you I put my country first.

I’ll wait for call, and Cindy’s private jet.

    Thank you,
    Horace

  10. They don’t need to vet . . . They’ll just lie about & spin whatever it is they find. That’s the Bush-Cheney-Rove playbook & “Maverick” McCain’s, too. Career First.

  14. HAHHAHA… McCain is such a worthless lying scumbag… I can see Rovism has had NO affect on him. What human waste. Remember how he was on TV THREE days ago?! Remember how he called Palin a “Kindred Spirit” and a “Soulmate”?

No… no one remembers. That would involve thinking. And we all know that gets in the way of shopping and watching American Idol.

  19. The Daily Kos posting disappeared?! Try this instead.

The following is very convincing evidence that the daughter is INDEED Trig””s mother – NOT Sarah Palin.

The key is to look at the dates, and sister Piper””s maturity in the family portraits.
Piper””s maturity is key, because it demonstrates that the picture (with the baby bump on sis) was taken in 2007, NOT 2006. An actual shot of the family in 2006 shows a SIGNIFICANTLY YOUNGER sister Piper.

    As the blogger puts it,

“Are you kidding me? This is unreal. Kids don’t grow backwards, not even in Alaska.”

  22. AWESOME choice in Palin.

Now here is the truth about Obama —–

    Obama,

You are the first candidate the U.S. has had in a long time that has continued to spread false information from the first time you hit the campaign trail.

I find your technique one of the most offensive I have ever experienced. I find your ethics are on the border of being unethical and your manipulation of the facts most disgusting.

It is common knowledge that the media will always press United States citizens to vote for the candidate who offers them the biggest kick-backs, pay-backs, and over-all “favors”. That is you, Obama.

Then look at your over all personas: Your stance, the way you hold your head, your gestures, the clothes you wear, the pronouns and adjectives you use. Everything about you is the personification of an individual, who does NOT, let me repeat DOES NOT, have the United States citizens interests’ at heart. You are an elitist and the persona I just described is living proof — your entire appearance is proof — FACT — of what I say.

Okay – now let’s talk about education. You have a law degree but did not practice law. Why? Readers – look this one up and you will see why. And, the result is not a positive one.

Then there is the community organizer work you undertook in the state of Illinois. That, too, has been overstated and turned into something “positive” that it in fact was NOT. Dear readers – check this one out yourself as there are many Illinois citizens who will tell you the “truth.”

My education – NOBAMA – is equal to or greater than your education. I do have the same ability as you to influence U.S. Citizens: And I certainly am taking the opportunity to exploit you for what you truly are.

You see I am an educator, who works for a famous “Research One” institution, who has the ability to write Journal Articles that all college students will use for research. The true facts about you will come out and in a place that will most definitely do the most good – to influence voters “young voters” on how to spot an individual who does not represent the United States in the capacity as he states he will. Make no mistake, Obama, people will definitely know the subject of the Journal Articles is referencing you and your 2008 Presidential campaign.

See you in “honest” fact-finding print.

  23. plz note, versailles comment sounds alot like the trolled comments i’ve been seeing flooding from the right… get your wading boots on, cuz the right is gonna make two huge pushes this week. 1)personality attacks on Obama and 2)sources tell me the McCain camp has spend a huge wad of cash to fight us online this week. That includes hiring “Copy and Paste” trollers. That letter sounded just like one, almost exact same format, that was posted twice on my site last week from a very weird email account.

    Just a heads up.
