The McCains Just Showed How Out Of Touch They Are With Americans
I was reading the Vanity Fair article, which was linked to on HuffingtonPost, and the article made my jaw drop. Seriously, they’re trying to empathize with the economic pain of Americans while flashing outrageous wealth? This is borderline ridiculous.
Cindy McCain wore the average cost of a house on herself on Monday night. That’s $300,000 according to Vanity Fair.
Oscar de la Renta suit: $2,500
Stuart Weitzman heels: $325
Pearl stud earrings: $600–$1,500
Total: Between $3,425 and $4,325
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000–$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100
This, again like John McCain’s $500 pair of rich Italian leather loafers, exemplies just how deeply out of touch they are with ordinary Americans. Right now, I can’t afford a house at that price on my meager salary, and neither can millions of Americans. I’ve had enough of rich Republicans pretending to feel our pain while they wear the cost of our pain on themselves.
