Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

Matt Damon (Yes, Really) Smacks Palin: “It’s Absurd” w/Video

I kid you not, the best response I’ve seen to the prospect of VP Sarah Palin is Matt Damon. In this fantastic short video, he says all the things we (and the Obama campaign) have been afraid to say and encapsulates our feelings with the simple phrase: “It’s absurd.

Some other choice quotes:

“It’s like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom…from Alaska and she’s the president and it’s like she’s facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink and it’s absurd.”

“It’s a really terrifying possibility…the fact that we’ve gotten this far and we’re that close to this being a reality is crazy.”

and my favorite:

I want to know if she really thinks dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. I want to know that. I really do. Because she’s going to have the nuclear codes.”

Additionally, he says that she was a purely political pick, and says that based on actuarial tables there is a 1 in 3 chance McCain wouldn’t survive his first term and we’d be left with President Palin (?!?!?!).

It’s short, but it’s sweet. God bless Matt Damon for saying what’s been on everyone’s mind. I know we have to be wary of Hollywood celebs chiming in, but this time I think it’s useful because he’s saying some things that will have an impact if they’re heard.

Things such as:

“It’s absurd.”

  3. Can I tell you – I just saw Michelle Obama talk and she is an inspiring speaker. Reminded people that this is a critical election.
