  1. Hmmm…I will go on the record and say I doubt Obama takes NC. The election is going to have many more twists and turns and this crisis certainly pushed the economy concern to a record high – and it will undoubtedly ebb before the end of the cycle.

But nevertheless, in the meantime this is great news for the campaign, because it tells the McCain camp they can’t ignore it entirely and will have to compete. When’s the last time McCain went to NC?

My guess is he’ll continue to ignore it…at his peril? We’ll know in 40-some days.

  2. Yeah, NC is low on my list of states Obama will flip, but this is good news nonetheless.

  3. But,dansc and turneresq, wouldn’t it be amazing if he did take the state? Looking at those cross tabs he needs a Biden or a Bill to go to the rural areas. That is where he needs the help. He will have his massive rally in downtown Charlotte tomorrow, so I need to see the turnout. He already has a great ground game in VA and in NC so maybe more recruits will help. I’m ever the optimist.

  4. It would be amazing and wonderful if Obama took the state and, not to be a bummer, but isn’t it common wisdom that NC and VA come almost as a package deal? We’re not seeing terrific things in VA when we go out and canvass (unless, like I sometimes do, I take a break and make calls to DC burbs.) In the rest of the State I get a lot of doors slammed in my face. This is a very very tight race.
