Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

Powerful Video: Israelis For Obama

As some of you may know, I’m a dual-citizen of both America and Israel, and proud of both of my countries, even if we do make mistakes. One of the more frustrating things about living in America is hearing the misperceptions about Israeli public opinion as if it isn’t as diverse and varied as opinion in America or many other Democracies. Most worrisome is the false notion that Israelis are uniformly supportive of McCain and not of Obama.

Well, I just saw this video and I have to saw I found it personally to be one of the most hopeful and inspiring videos I’ve ever seen. Perhaps I’m a sucker, but I couldn’t resist it. If any of you have any Jewish friends or family on the fence about this election, please forward this video on:

  1. Wow, you’ve just made my morning. I’m a non-religious Jew who is a strong supporter of Obama, but who knows a number of older Jews who have described themselves as “nervous” about him (mostly due to malicious emails they’ve received and/or misinformation).

I can’t wait to show them this.

    Thanks!

  2. The cost of buying news hour placement in Florida and other areas with large Jewish populations would be well worth it! This is a sincere, moving statement for Obama which could help relieve some of the fears about Obama’s support for Isreal. I especially like the statement “We don’t need another George Bush.”

  6. Dear Folks,

How wonderful to see the “real” Israel speak up.

The American Jewish establishment groupies and their affinity group, the Christian Zionist fundamentalists, are driving the American Jewish people crazy with lies and fear. Witness the newest piece of trash their promotion of “Obsession.” (www.JewsOnFirst.org) Thanks.

  7. I feel pride and power – pride in my people, in Israel, and in the capacity for honesty and caring to be heard above the lies and the fear. I feel the power we have to make a difference with videos like this – so let’s get it out there in the universe and enable it to make a difference in this very important election.

Thank you to the producers – yasher koach and shana tova,

The people shown in the video are the very left wing of the population of Israel and most Israelis don’t trust Obama as far as they can throw him

  15. Very interesting. When Obama spoke at the recent AIPAC meeting in Washington, DC he promised that Jerusalem would not be divided and other placating statements. The following week he spoke to CAIR and said that the issue of Jerusalem would have to be “worked out between the two”, referring to Israel and the Palestinians. George Bush has been an adamant supporter of Israel and so is McCain.

I have two concerns that come before our economy, and those are the security of the USA and that of Israel. The Israelis should understand that only Amercans can vote in this election.

  19. I have been a supporter of Obama for a while, I met him face to face, and I have no doubt he is the best choice for us as Americans, for Israelis, and for the entire world.
    The alternative is grim.
Republicans may have some history in foreign policy that involves Israel, and may have helped Israel under some circumstances.
But Republicans have also a history of antisemitism.
Nixon, James Baker and other Republicans are known to be antisemitic in their views, as also captured on audio tapes in the Oval office…
McCain comes from the same stock.
Palin has no clue where Israel is, she probably never met Jews in her life!
Obama is a 21st. Century pragmatist who will never sacrifice Israel. McCain will jump at the first chance for a fight in the Middle East.
    Its a very easy choice.

  20. Peace in the world is essential; otherwise we will be destroyed. So we must solve the
problem of peace. Yet peace is not an ideal for all ideals are fictitious. What is actual must be
understood, and that understanding of the actual is prevented by the fiction that we call an ideal.
The actual is that each one is ambiguously seeking power, titles, positions of authority, and so on,
all of which is covered up in various forms of well-meaning words. This is a vital problem. It is
not a theoretical problem nor one that can be postponed; it demands action now, because the
    catastrophe is obviously coming because the momentum of the isolating process is already here;
and he who really thinks about it must tackle the root of the problem, which is the individual’s
search for power, creating the power-seeking group, race, and nation.
Can one live in the world without the desire of power, for position, for authority?
Obviously one can. One does it when one does not identify oneself with something greater. The
identification with something greater – the party, the country, the race, the religion, and the group
    – is the search for power. Because you in yourself are empty, dull, weak, you like to identify
yourself with something greater. That desire to identify yourself with something greater is the
desire for power. That is why nationalism, or any communal spirit, is such a curse in the world; it
is still the desire for power. So the important thing in understanding life, and therefore
relationship, is to discover the motive that is driving each one of us; because what that motive is,
the environment becomes. That motive brings either peace or destruction in the world. And so it
is very important for each one of us to be aware that the world is in a state of misery and
destruction, and to realize that if we are seeking power, consciously or unconsciously, we are
contributing to that destruction, and therefore our relationship with society will be a constant
    process of conflict.

  21. Obama is a muslim, you fools.
I am the only friend of Israel. As long as I get elected president. So you better vote for me.

Comment by John McCain | September 29, 2008 | Reply

  22. There is really only one choice for President in this election year and that is Barak Obama. Make no mistake if McCain is elected the pain we are suffering now will continue and probably grow worse. I believe Senator Obama is an intelligent, sincere man, who I believe can make a difference!

Senator McCain is to be admired for his dedicated service to America while taken prisoner in the Korean War, however
that experience does not qualify him to be President of our country. His Narrow, rigid extreme conservatism will not allow our country to move forward not stagnate as we are at this time.

  26. How naive! Just another example of biased media slanting the truth to serve their own political agenda. I guess having American troops on both sides of Iran does not provide Israel any comfort. I’m sure the people of Israel will sleep much better at night after Barack pulls American troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan so Al Qaeda won’t be distracted and Iran/Syria can fund Hamas & the Palestinians to lob more shells into Israel

  28. Tell me why a supporter of Israel would support Obama – considering his Black Liberation Theology. He has followed this faith for 20 years, baptized in it, married in it, raised children in it. What is it? Look up wikipedia, james cone, black liberation theology – for a quick, general understanding.

Obama will favor Palistine, not Israel, considering his faith/worldview. You cannot go by his sweet words that have been spoken during his effort to get votes. Black Liberation Theology has an agenda that allows for any means to achieve their goals… even falsehood.

Israel and all supporters – do not be lazy on this one & do your homework! You are being spoon feed lies by the media.

Obama is a bad person. Did he ever vote for a war against Palestinians? I do!
If I get elected president I promise I will eliminate the muslims danger. I am in favor of Israel.
You just have to vote for me.
By the way, Sarah is a Jewish name. Don’t forget that.
Whoever votes for Obama is an anti-semite!

  30. Former or current Israeli Government Officials have no business butting into US politics. It is totally unethical and would be resented by Israeli’s if US officials did the same. Essentially all of these generals have taken very left leaning positions within the Israeli political scene and at a minimum this should have been stated in the video. But bottom line is that any Israeli Official which takes a public stance in the US Elections should be discounted at a minimum.

Obama is as corrupt as any other politician who has come along. INFORM yourselves!! He is not a good leader. He is on the same payrolls as any of the other american political leaders. And this video has Obama paid campaign written all over it. Check out the Zeitgeist Addendum, check out David Icke’s account of Obama… INFORM yourselves…

the connection between wright and obama is enough to
make me doubt that obama will be on our side .
8 month ago when obama was not the front runner he called wright a mentor and a close friend.
Jews today ignore that they eat up everything obama say
and many will vote for him .
this is the same guy that called Jerusalem the cpaital of israel that should never be divided ,just to change his mind a day later .
obama is a bright man but talk is cheep . he cant sell me .
he can send to all the Jewish people here shana Tova and
tell his commitment to a strong Israel but i have a hard time to believe anything he say .

  38. Folks, let’s face it – U.S. policy toward Israel has always reflected U.S. interests. Powers brokers in Israel and in the U.S. run US/Israeli policy. JPAC spends enormous sums buying influence on both sides of the aisle. Both McCain and Obama understand Israel’s influence and importance in the region. Neither is likely to drastically change that policy. The recent resignation of Ehud Olmert means that Israel needs to get its own house in order.
If you’re an American it behooves you to vote on the issues where you live. The economic situation will worsen as we continue to loose jobs and as the fallout from the $700 billion bailout will cause inflationary pressures.
Heck, we could even go bankrupt. If you look at history – it’s democratic administrations that get the economy back on track. Remember that – when your standing in the voting booth election day.
