Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

Debate Prep

Perhaps in a bid to make the debate prep seem as little as possible as the actual debate, the McCain team took Sarah Palin out by a stream and put up some podiums:

The NYTimes reports:

Advisers said she was a diligent worker and was frequently up until the small hours of the morning in her hotel room trying to cram as much information as possible before the debate.

Many caution against underestimating her. When she was on the stage debating to be Alaska’s governor, she sounded much more free-flowing and less programmed with her words. But perhaps that’s because she was discussing issues she knew about. This amusing talk on the right about “letting Palin be Palin” would be less amusing if she had a base of knowledge on national and international affairs. Then, yes, she could be herself and express her own opinions. But she doesn’t have that knowledge. Hence the all-night study sessions.

Look, I expect her to be passable on Thursday night. But as Roland Martin keeps repeating on CNN, the expectations game is ridiculous and the bar should not be low. It should be extremely high given the position Palin is seeking, and it should be the same height for both her and Joe Biden.

  1. haha…Palin is a mess just like McCain! She is gonna get smashed and she knows it! My question is, why is it ok for her to dish out insults (the Biden remark) but noone can make comments about or against her? Totally unfair!

  2. What I find fascinating is that it seems that if she does well at the VP debate (which I expect she will), then does that automatically mean she is fit to be the VP. Of course not. There is no way for Sarah Palin to erase the SNL skits, the videos on youtube, her troubles in Alaska and her own dismal performance in interviews.

I have watched the Srah Palin clips with Katie Couric over and over again. It’s like looking at a traffic accident on the highway. It’s horrible and you don’t want to look, but you can’t help yourself. You just stare in disbelief.

Sarah Pslin may be just fine as the Governor of Alaska. But she is not VP material. I don’t care if she aces the debate. John McCain’s judgment is the issue.

I watched some of her debates and she did come across as competent. But she was talking about Alaska politics. National domestic and foreign policy is another thing. Just imagine all of the cramming she is having to do. It’s like preparing for a final exam that you neglected all year.

  3. It’s SUPER sad that a vice-presidential nominee has to CRAM for a debate. These are things she should know at the very least know enough that she only has to review.

  4. I love the hypocrisy of the Obamatrons. They are so excited about their inexperienced Presidential candidate, and yet so concerned about about the opposition’s VP choice. What a bunch of phonies. I can’t wait to see Palin destroy Joe Biden. She is a Master Debater. Anyone who needs proof only needs to go here and look at the photo (scroll down just a bit)
