  1. I, too was stunned with the way that McCain so easily brushed aside –marginalized with air quotes and demeaned with a shrug–the well-being of millions of American women. My “health” is not a trivial issue, and once again the arrogance and self-righteous of the right galls me. In the same exchange, McCain said something about all those babies being welcomed and cared for…another laughable line from the party that spent years railing against single mothers and absentee fathers…against educating children of undocumented parents . . . against expanding SCHIP.

  2. What McCain is probably reflecting on how in the “bad old days” wealthy women were able to obtain safe abortions based on “health of the woman” reasons while other women had to resort to back-alley butchers.
