Obama vs. the other guy, 2008

Barack Obama Releases New Ad For Olympics

Senator Barack Obama just released a new ad called the “Three Bedroom Ranch” for the Olympics, on top of his “Hands” ad that is already playing on a nationwide buy on NBC. Here’s the ad below:

This ad specifically focuses on the middle class, especially where the economy is concerned, and has a more positive aspect to it, keeping in with the mood of the Olympics.

Senator McCain had to submit his other “Original Maverick” ad that was more positive on top of the negative ad, which is still playing in some markets. I’m guessing he got negative feedback from his negative ad in the campaign internal polls, which would explain the addition of the other ad.

On the other hand, the Obama campaign’s new ad will be very effective for those watching the Olympics at home. And here’s the script:

It begins with a plan.

A plan to build.

A plan to put hard working Americans first.

Barack Obama.

He’ll put the middle class ahead of Corporate Interests to…

Grow the economy.

End tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.

Help businesses that create jobs here.

Invest in education.

Cut taxes for working families.

And make energy independence an urgent national priority.

BO: I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

  1. Great stuff. I’m starting to sense how this dynamic is playing out: national ads make Obama seem like the positive candidate, while local ads smack McCain around. I like it.

  2. I do wish that Indiana ad was a national ad buy though. Heh.

  3. I have a feeling it’s a test. I mean, something like that would be devastating in states like OH, PA, and MI.

  4. As the proud owner of a three-bedroom ranch, I endorse this ad wholeheartedly.

Like Slink, though, I do like the Indiana ad – and hope to see it in my neck of the woods soon.

  5. I encourage the Obama team strongly to concentrate on what matters to the American people and to forcefully show how they differ with Sen. McCain on the issues, while doing that they MUST also forcefully respond to all negative ads. That is the winning strategy.
