This Caught My Eye
I was reading Halperin’s roundup of the evening news shows, when this tidbit caught my eye. You ever know how when you read something, you have the sense it’s going to be a major story that’s going to come up after bubbling under the surface for a while? This tidbit was it.
ABC and CBS led with the escalating military conflict in Georgia; NBC led with the Olympics.
ABC: About 10 minutes in, package on the Atlantic magazine’s report about Mark Penn’s memos supposedly recommending that Clinton emphasize Obama’s unusual youth and background. Did not include a response from Penn. Mentioned that an independent conservative group is recording video in Indonesia for potential future use.
Now, what could this independent conservative group be doing in Indonesia, where Senator Barack Obama grew up with his mother, half-sister, and former stepfather? There’s an ABCNews video clip exploring this same issue.
However, the ABCNews video does not mention the name of the conservative group. If anyone can listen to the end of the video clip (you have to get through the annoying commercials first), you hear Jake Tapper mention this, please let me know if he named the conservative group. The video didn’t have captions, hence my question.
Here’s what I’m betting the conservative group is filming in Indonesia–the school where Senator Obama attended (while leaving out the other Catholic school he went to), and with images of children dressed in Muslim garb, y’know, for the fear factor. Then a few images of chanting men in a Muslim mosque near the school, and then explicitly questioning whether Obama is American enough to lead America. That’s what this film likely would be about, and I think it’s going to be a part of the GOP Convention. Didn’t the 2004 GOP Convention feature the film by the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth as well?
The Obama team should be ready to counteract whatever images come in the film with actual images from the Senator’s childhood in Indonesia, Hawaii, and his time in America (if his family ever took a cross-country trip, this would be a great time to include the photos). This is the time to be pro-active on this, and one way to start is to help by making this great website go viral in featuring Obama’s ties to America, his white family, and his father’s family. This humanizes Obama in making him one of us.

Slinkerwink, I came across this same item and had more or less the same reaction. This kind of stuff is really tough to combat, and can be really effective.
The Obamascrapbook is WONDERFUL. I have sent it to loads of people. Maybe tomorrow, you could post it in a diary? You are really good at getting on the rec list and I think everyone should see it.
Barack could also launch a new bio ad. But yep, these people are scum and they are not afraid to show it.

Great catch. However, the SBVT film was not featured at the ’04 GOP convention. It was an “independent” expenditure, remember?

Oh, and I expect Wright to come up in those 527 videos the week before the election, along with clips of Obama’s childhood in Indonesia to sway 14% of undecided voters to McCain’s way, which can affect the election.

Call me crazy but I’m not going to let myself worry about this. We all knew that the GOP is planning to attack Obama to make him look “foreign”. At the end of the day, you just have to see if you believe the American people can truly elect a black president or not. If the answer is no, then there’s nothing we can really do to counter it. But if the answer is yes, then I think we’ll be fine.

Well being black and corrupt without a Birth Certificate and having dual citizenship in Kenya as well as Indonesia are all good reasons not to vote for OBAMA. There are many others but those are great reasons but then you could consider the inexperience don’t you think???

WATCHOVERAMERICA–you’re wrong about Obama having dual citizenship in Kenya–he doesn’t.
The State Department says that Kenya does not officially recognize dual nationality. Also, the Kenya law for citizenship states that:
Q. If at the time of my birth one of my parents was not a Kenya Citizen and I was born in Kenya, is it possible that I have dual citizenship? If the answer is yes up to which age?
A. Kenya Constitution Section 97 (1) (6) (a) states that:
Any person who, upon the attainment of the age of twenty-one years, is a citizen of Kenya and also a citizen of another country other than Kenya shall cease to be a citizen of Kenya upon the specified date (6)(a) that is: twenty-three (23) years.
Since Obama is (a) a citizen of the US and (b) over 23 years of age, we can state with certainty that in the eyes of the Kenyan government, he is not a Kenyan citizen.
Sorry, you earned a massive FAIL on that one, so-called WATCHOVERAMERICA.

Because America has accepted the illegal status of John McCain. Yeah, I know what you have been told, but if there is something such as this would the media put it out there? No.
McCain is the worse possible solution and to speak on experience traveling to another country gives him nothing more than those airline miler records. lol
I’ll say it again. Unless a person is a returning president or was a sitting VP they have no experience at being president. Is being American all about believing any BS you are told? We’ve seen what Hillary was basing her experience off of and yet despite the lie there is this desperation to still push her into office.
Now there is another desperate attempt. And people really want me to believe race isn’t involved?
No black president is going to be able to just flip the switch so people need to calm down. LOL!
Obama is about change. A change we desperately need.
Like any president he will have advisors and will be just fine.

The swift boat effort is probably connected to the three encroachments involving Obama’s passport, during the primary, over a three to four month period. The MSM diffused the scandel by reporting that the third passport incident on Obama’s passport also involved McCain’s and Clinton’s passport too. There was no mention of McCain and Clinton passport violations for at least an hour after the initial report involving Obama’s passport was announced.
Somebody has a lot of clout.

Isn’t it odd that many of you view the republicans as racist. Wasn’t it Barack Obama who stayed in a white hating racist church for 20 years. Wasn’t Obama Father Pleger’s big supporter. Wasn’t it Obama who slinked along side of Louis Farakan. Wasn’t it Obama who sidled up to a terrorist bomber who bombed the pentagon and said he wished he had done more. You all need to take a good hard look in the mirroe before you start calling others racist. You support Obama an avid racist and condemn any other type of racism. Racism is bad no matter who it comes from, but people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Codemn racism, but don’t forget to condemn it in your favorite candidate also.
